Semester I: Core Fundamentals & Programming Basics

The first semester focuses on building foundational knowledge of hardware, operating systems, and entry-to-intermediate level programming.

  • Fundamentals of Information Technology & Computers:

    • Computer organization and architecture, input/output devices, memory units, number systems, and basic operating systems (Windows/Linux).

  • PC Packages / Office Automation Tools:

    • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace tools, and basic database handling with MS Access.

  • Programming in C / Python:

    • Syntax, data types, control structures (loops, conditionals), arrays, functions, pointers (in C), and file handling.

  • Computer Organization and Architecture:

    • Boolean algebra, logic gates, instruction cycles, memory organization, and microprocessors.

  • Practical / Lab Work:

    • Hands-on implementation of MS Office tools, Windows configurations, and basic C/Python programming.

Semester II: Advanced Concepts, Web & Databases

The second semester introduces database management, software engineering, and web development technologies.

  • Database Management Systems (DBMS) & RDBMS:

    • ER modeling, Relational Algebra, SQL queries (MySQL / Oracle), normalization, and database security.

  • Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA):

    • Arrays, stacks, queues, linked lists, trees, sorting, and searching algorithms.

  • Object-Oriented Programming (C++ / Java):

    • Classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, constructors, and exception handling.

  • Data Communication & Computer Networks:

    • OSI model, TCP/IP protocol, LAN/WAN topologies, switching, and basic internet security.

  • Web Technologies / Web Design:

    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript basics, PHP, or dynamic web development principles.

  • Software Engineering:

    • Software development life cycle (SDLC), requirement analysis, testing methodologies, and project management.

  • Major Project / Practical Lab Work:

    • Development of a minor or major software application using database connectivity and a chosen programming language.
